Invited Session Proposal Submissions

The Invited Session Proposal Submission Deadline has passed. The results will be sent in due time.

Invited session proposals are solicited for the 2020 IEEE International Geoscience and Remote Sensing Symposium (IGARSS 2020), to be held July 19 - 24, in Waikoloa, Hawaii, USA.

Proposals for invited sessions must reach the Co-Chairs of the Technical Program Committee by 4 October 2019. This deadline will be strictly observed, and no deadline extension will be given.

Each proposal should include

  • Chair and Co-Chair names, institutional affiliations and contact information
  • Session title
  • Brief description of session with keywords
  • A short abstract (with at least 250 and fewer than 500 words)
  • List of potential invitees
  • the associated IGARSS 2020 theme (see list of topics at https://igarss2020.org/Papers/PaperTopics.asp)

Since IGARSS 2020 will have a different format for Oral Sessions, each Invited Session will be composed by 8 papers (1 introductory talk of 20 min, and 7 short oral presentations, 5 min. each, followed by 45 min. poster presentations in the same room, to discuss the short talks given).

Preference will be given to Invited Sessions referring to the topics designated as special interest for IGARSS 2020:

  • Monitoring and damage assessment of volcanoes and other natural disasters
  • Monitoring and Preservation of Natural Reserves
  • Coastal environment, its change and the impact of rising sea levels
  • The Great Pacific Garbage Patch
  • NewSpace in Remote Sensing
  • Artificial Intelligence in Remote Sensors
  • Remote sensing parameters and models for radiation energy budget

Please note that, should the proposed Invited Session be accepted into the technical program, the chair and co-chair should confirm that their potential invitees are willing to make a commitment to attend and deliver a presentation at the Symposium in Hawaii in July 2020. When seeking such commitment, we suggest that the chair and co-chair of the invited session advise the invited presenters that a place for the session in the final technical program cannot be guaranteed, as the competition for invited session places is strong and the number of such sessions is limited (no more than 30% of the total oral sessions).

The letters of acceptance for Invited Sessions will be mailed on November 4, 2019.

All proposals should be submitted online through the link below:
